When we take the time to reflect there are actually so many of these moments in the day, and it should be pretty easy to have a big impact on how you behave by switching up your response to just a couple of them. If/when you discover some ‘bad’ choices eg they weren’t good for you or your habits in the long-term, then analyse the triggers and any friction that could have contributed to you making that choice and look at ways around this in the future. Throughout this six-session summer book club, we will focus on the four laws of behavior change: make it obvious, make it attractive, make it easy, and make it. When you identify any so-called ‘good’ choices - eg they moved you towards the person you want to become (remember the idea of identity-based habits from earlier in the book?) then celebrate yourself and make a note to keep doing them.
